My Bucket List of Books

This post caught my eye and made me both curious to take a look at Amazon’s list of “100 Books to read in a Lifetime” and to make my own personal list of the ten books I have yet to read but would love to in the near future. So here’s my list. They are in no particular order and not the only ones I found interesting, but the ones that interested me the most currently.

1. Catch-22 by Joseph Heller
2. Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
3. Me Talk Pretty One by David Sedaris
4. Midnight’s Children by Salman Rushdie
5. The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien
6. The Road by Cormac McCarthy
7. The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
8. Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl
9. The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson
10. On the Road by Jack Kerouac

My top three recommendations (of what I have read from the list) are The Poisonwood Bible, 1984, and Things Fall Apart.
Make sure to check out the list on Amazon and maybe read a handful.

Final Fantasy XIII 16-bit Story Summery or Catch-up

This was definitely worth the watch since I have yet to beat either of the first two games in the FFXIII trilogy and still plan on playing the new one when it releases. And I enjoyed the old school Final Fantasy mode of storytelling.

If it’s been a while since you’ve played Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIII-2 and you don’t feel like replaying the game, or you might have skipped one of them and want a quick 8 minute summary, well you’ve got one. Square Enix released an 8 minute video summary of the game and it’s in 16 bit retrospect. I think giving it an old school feel just made the video so much more awesome.

Good thoughts. I agree.

Charlie’s Review of The Geek’s Guide to Dating By Eric Smith

Because there are never too many geeky things in the world. And because I could have really used this back in the day.

Reflections of a Book Addict

17568806When I was given The Geek’s Guide to Dating by Eric Smith to read, I was intrigued by the concept as I identify myself as a 21st century geek. We all know that this is a cool thing these days, even though I have had these interests long before they were cool. As far as dating advice goes, anyone who knows me knows I don’t need that. I was quite the ladies’ man before I found the love of my life. So, I read this book solely based on the entertainment factor as I have no need for help in my love life. However, for all you out there looking for that special someone, The Geek’s Guide to Dating is not just entertaining, but may actually help you succeed!

Wonderful Blog Wednesday: Video Game Sanctum

My WordPress feed has been kind of slow the past few days, so I was worried about finding an awesome blog to write about. Video Game Sanctum had caught my attention some days before with a review of the new Zelda game coming out (which I will hopefully be getting as a birthday gift..) so I decided to check it out some more today. I am very satisfied with this blog. News about everything video game related- reviews, updates on consoles and gaming news, and the monthly reminder of which games PS Plus and Xbox Live Gold members will be offered for free. And if you like writing about video games, they are looking for more writers.
I choice to reblog a short a post about Bioshock Infinite: Burial at Sea because Bioshock is awesome.

bioshock-infinite-burial-at-the-sea-Get ready to return to Rapture (before it was ruined.) The first story-related DLC for Bioshock Infinite is coming out November 12th. If you bought the season pass, you can just download it, but if you didn’t it will cost you $14.99. Burial at Sea Episode One sees Booker and Elizabeth exploring the city of Rapture the night before its fall and includes new weapons and a new Plasmid. I can’t wait to visit Rapture again as I love that place, too bad it isn’t real 😦

Wonderful (Re)Blog Wednesday – Games as Little Gold Books

Haven’t found anything today that caught my interest but I noticed this a few days ago and it’s awesome. I enjoy finding posts like these. A couple months back I saw an article about if modern-day games were old school NES ones and showed what each cartridge would look like.
Since this post was so awesome, I instantly followed the blog. So, if you come across any clever posts like this about games- let me know.

The Nerded Up Craft Blog!

I hope you all are prepared for insanely cute, because I’m gonna show you some insanely cute art:

Wonderful Blog Wednesday: HarsH ReaLiTy

Giving props to a blogger I have been following for some time. Like I assume what most other people did as well, when I joined WordPress I looked through some categories of blogs and was given suggestions of who to follow based on my interests. I clicked a bunch of random blogs that sounded like they would be a good read and decided to later weed out the ones that failed to keep my interest. Of these blogs I randomly clicked was one by a man whose plan is “offend everyone in the world” (taken directly from the sub-heading of the blog). Out of all the blogs I followed those first few days, HarsH ReaLiTy has continually caught my eye while I have scrolled through my “Reader” feed.
In the past couple of months, Opinionated Man- as he calls himself- launched several different projects that he worked on while posting his daily handful of posts. Among these projects was Project O, which. Fought together people from everyone who shared the similar interest of having their own opinion about everything and anything. Recently, HarsH ReaLiTy has hosted a poetry contest and has been/will be featuring guest writers on the blog alongside the post of the great OM.
The link provided should take you to the blog’s main page. If you have some time, I suggest browsing through some of the posts. I will offer a last warning though- you may get offended.
Enjoy.
