These words

They are everything

The first meeting, the first text

The long nighty phone conversations

These words

They were analyzed

Phrases were rehearsed and planned

These words

They are the reason you fell for me

Crafted so carefully

Presented so articulately

These words

They mean nothing

If they aren’t made for you from me.

Agent J. Smith: Minutes 06 – Questions

Rebecca and Joslyn discuss Lauren Mason and the mysterious woman.

The SRT Archives

[Recording Start]

Agent Joslyn Smith: Do you mind if I record this?

Agent Rebecca Andersen: No, go ahead.

J. Smith: So why did you help the Masons track down Target Alpha? Why not just lead Lauren to places you knew wouldn’t turn up any clues?

Andersen: They had the resources to help md find Rylie. And I knew it would be better if I found her with Lauren than chance the possibility of me not getting to her first.

J. Smith:Are you okay?

Andersen: Yeah, just having a weird day.

J. Smith: What happened?

Andersen: I ran into the woman I met before Rylie left the first time. She told me not to get involved

J. Smith: It’s a little too late for that, isn’t it?

Andersen: I couldn’t stop if I wanted to, not with all these questions I have… I wonder if she’s looking for Rylie again.

Sunshine and Rainbows

I’m having a rough night after an already long day and instead of ranting, I’ll just use poetry to express my feelings on the subject.

So enjoy.

When you feel so mad
That you want the feeling to fade so bad.
Think of sunshine and rainbows
Be high on life instead of low.
Yes, people are lazy
But don’t let it get you crazy.
Screw this and screw that
Just don’t take it out on your family or cat.
Laziness is not a great work quality
In two weeks you will be free from this city.
Do the monkey work
And let those mean thoughts continue to lurk.
Remember you be missed
When things are left shitty and your boss is pissed.
Because what will all of this matter anyway
When you’re gone and far, far away?

It’s not great but whatever- at least I made it rhyme. I have begun to countdown my departure time. I don’t know why I am still writing in rhymes. I’ve been playing this game where monsters attack you in the mines. It’s pretty epic- it’s called Until Dawn.

Okay, no more rhymes. But check that game out, it’s fun and scary and it keeps you guessing. And that “happy” ending- ha. Not going to spoil it. I’ve been renting it from the Redbox because I have some free codes for game rentals. Definitely worth it if you like survival horror and the cast is pretty awesome. Watch out in those mines though- and pretty much everywhere else once the final hours start counting down.

Well, back to work I go until morning comes.

Team Alpha: Audio File 03 – Thoughts

Karen tries to make sense of her thoughts.

The SRT Archives

[Recording Start]

Agent Katherine Smith: I don’t know if this is an appropriate use of company-issued equipment, but my sister is off doing… I don’t know, and I think I’ll go crazy if I don’t say what’s on my mind.
K. Smith: There’s so much going on- this job, Josey, Dante, Adam… Work relationships are bad, right? Okay, maybe not bad. Stressful, distracting, everything I don’t need right now. I couldn’t sleep last night.
(A knock.)
Agent Joslyn Smith: (yells from behind a door) Hey, you up?!
K. Smith: (yells) Yeah!
(The door opens.)
K. Smith: Are you okay? You look terrible.
J. Smith: I’m great. Well, besides the fact the coffee I had is wearing off and I’ll probably crash as soon as I make it to the bed.
K. Smith: You just got home?

Pandora: Chronicle 07 – Kiss

Pandora and Link share their first kiss.

The SRT Archives

“Good morning.”

Link enters the room with a tray of food and drinks. I could not recall hearing him awaken or smelling the breakfast being prepared.

Had I been asleep? How long did my drift through my subconsciousness? Did I experience any dreams?

“Did you sleep okay?”

I observe our normal breakfast on the tray. “Is this necessary?”

Link chuckles. “This is me trying to be romantic.”

In the movies, people would make small gestures like leaving loving messages on post-it notes on the fridge. They would also make big gestures like racing to the airport to stop the person they loved from boarding a plane that would take them away probably forever. Romantic gestures, much like general expressions in conversation, carried different meanings and intensities.

“This is to apologize for last night. Maybe it was too early to try and go out or maybe it was just bad timing. I…

M. Evans: Voicemail Message 03

Adam tries to reach out to his brother.

The SRT Archives

[Recording Start]

Michael: This is Michael. If you’re trying to reach me and you’re listening to this, I’m probably working. Leave me a message and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

Agent Adam Evans: Hey little brother. Listen, everyone here is getting worried. Mara and the moms haven’t heard from you. I’m sure you’re having a lot of adventures out there but at least let us know you’re still alive, alright? Speaking of adventures, I have some crazy stories to tell you when you get back. Call me, or something, okay? Love you, little brother.

C. E. Andersen: Blog – Girlfriend

Chelsea makes in interesting discovery.

The SRT Archives

Maybe I’ve been wrong about Mom.

Naomi said she came home sometime early this morning. When I went down for breakfast, she was still in her room. Sleeping, I thought. But then she was talking to someone.

She was laughing. She sounded happy- not like she’s been in a while.

I snooped a little.

Not sure what they were talking about. Mom came into the kitchen in a good mood.

Does Mom have new girlfriend?

Maybe she “pretends” to stay late at work to see her.

I wonder who she is.

Agent Andersen: Log 09 – Joslyn

Rebecca and Joslyn plan to meet up again.

The SRT Archives

Half-asleep, I search for the phone. I answer, hoping for anything but bad news. “Hello?”

“Did I wake you up?” Joslyn whispers on the other end.

Only hours ago, we had left my old apartment.

“Is something wrong?”

“No- sorry- I’ll just call back-”

“No, it’s okay.” I read the time on my alarm clock. Almost eight. “Did you get any sleep?”

She chuckles. “No. I couldn’t sleep- I came back to work. I read everything- Lauren Mason seems like a complete bitch. I know that’s not much coming from me but she takes it to an entirely different level. Did she know you slept with her daughter? Of course not, she probably would have murdered your ass. Not like it’s any of her business, age of consent means her opinion doesn’t matter, right?”

Her words were coming faster than I could keep up with them. “What?”

She pauses…

Agent J. Smith: Minutes 05 – Rebecca

Joslyn seeks a better understanding of Rebecca and Target Alpha.

The SRT Archives

[Recording Start]

Agent Joslyn Smith: I learned a lot more about Rebecca Andersen today than I ever expected to. Her relationship with Target Alpha is… I don’t know.

(A door opens.)

Agent Katherine Smith: Hey.

J. Smith: Hey, how was the party?

(The door closes.)

K. Smith: (sighs) Great until Dante harrassed the people in the next booth.

J. Smith: (laughs) Why am I not surprised?

K. Smith: Yeah, I guess I should have expected it. What’s that?

J. Smith: Homework. I’m helping the Director out with a lead.

K. Smith: Trying to stay on her good side?

J. Smith: Something like that.

J. Smith: You okay?

K. Smith: Yeah, just been a crazy night. I’m going to head to bed.

J. Smith: Alright. Night.

K. Smith: Night, Josey.

(Silence, followed by a door closing far off.)

J. Smith: I don’t know what to think about any of this…

Agent Andersen: Log 08 – Trust

Rebecca wakes up a familiar memory.

The SRT Archives

When I was with Rylie, I was always the first to fall asleep and the last to wake. I sometimes wondered if she ever slept. Every morning, Rylie would be lying beside me, consumed by a book or newspaper. Once she noticed I was awake, she would lean in for a kiss and to whisper a good morning in my ear. It was a routine I thought I would never have to live without. Until the day she vanished without a trace.

In the middle of the night, I wake up in the apartment I once shared with Rylie. I feel the weight of someone next to me in the bed and hear the sound of a page turning over. A jolt of excitement rushes through me. When I roll over, I expect to see Rylie there like all the days before.

Instead, I find Joslyn next to me. She…
